Spouses, Dependents, and Survivors
Spouses, children, and parents of Veterans who are deceased or totally and permanently disabled from a service connected disability may be eligible for a variety of benefits and services through the Veterans Benefits Administration.
Benefits
Benefits for dependents and survivors can include things such as:
- Life insurance and healthcare through CHAMPVA and TriCare.
- Financial aid for job training or schooling through the Survivors' and Dependents' Education Assistance Program (Also known as Chapter 35 Assistance), or through scholarship programs such as the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship, or through the transfer of Post-9/11 G.I. Bill benefits.
- Assistance with burial costs and other financial assistance if you are a survivor of a deceased veteran.
- Or additional financial support if you're serving as a caregiver for a family member who is a disabled veteran.
Services
There are many services that the VA can provde to veterans, their dependents, and their survivors:
